Smoking leads to several harmful effects to the body. A study has shown that smoking for long period can speed up the age process rapidly. Besides many health risks, smoking also affects your skin.

The most serious thing that occurs by smoking is it reduces blood flow through the veins preventing nutrients and oxygen to getting to the skin. This breaks down the supply of the collagen to the skin. The elasticity of your skin is based on the collagen. As we get older, this process happens naturally, but smoking enhances this process quickly.

Smoking leads to the reduction of vitamin A, which is required to protect the skin from any sort of damages. Vitamin C, an important antioxidant for skin protection is also decreased with the consumption of tobacco.

The continuous intake of smoking or the physical tightening of the lips creates deep wrinkled skin around the mouth. Smoking three cigarettes a day will damage the skin around the mouth area.
Smoking for a long term makes your skin look very unhealthy, more wrinkles on your face, and the dull look to the skin, change in skin color, and skin may loss its elasticity.
Most people spend thousands of rupees on anti aging creams, yet still smoke. It is useless to improve your skin with great products, and then damage the skin with smoking regularly. By using good skin products, healthy nutrition and drink lots of water can help your skin to fight with the negative effects caused by smoking.

One should not damage their skin by inflicting it with the regular consumption of smoking. The damage may not be immediate, but definitely shows its harmful effects after some years on skin.
